portrait of Alyssa Northrup, writer and registered dietitian

Alyssa Northrop is a registered dietitian, health and nutrition writer, speaker, and licensed massage therapist with over 20 years of experience. She draws on her research background and experience working one-on-one with individuals to translate complex—and at times conflicting—nutrition and health research into accurate, practical information people can use to feel their best.

Alyssa began her career as a researcher investigating complementary treatments for heart disease patients at the University of Michigan Integrative Medicine Research Center. She completed her dietetic internship with a focus in clinical nutrition and cardiac rehabilitation through the University of Michigan Health System.

In 2005, Alyssa co-founded Kaizen Healing Arts, a complementary and alternative wellness center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, offering nutrition counseling, therapeutic massage, naturopathic medicine, and acupuncture. She currently offers holistic nutrition counseling and therapeutic massage for stress relief, chronic pain management, and injury recovery through her private practice in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

After embarking on her own perimenopause journey, Alyssa channeled her passion for research into uncovering effective, science-backed strategies for navigating midlife with confidence and vitality. She is thrilled to partner with Versalie to share her insights and empower others to feel their best during this transition!

When she isn’t cooking, eating, or writing about food and wellness, Alyssa loves spending time with her husband, two children, and two dogs, running alongside the Minnehaha Creek, and singing with the Minnesota Chorale.
