Expertise

Dr. Minkin is a practicing gynecologist with 40+ years of experience and a special interest in menopause. She has taught at Yale University School of Medicine for over 41 years, and is a clinical professor of obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive sciences. She’s also the Co-Director of the Smilow Cancer Hospital Sexuality, Intimacy, and Menopause Program for cancer survivors at Yale New Haven Health.

Dr. Minkin has won numerous teaching awards from various organizations at Yale and the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics. In 2018, she was also named Educator of the Year by the North American Menopause Society.

Education and Training

Dr. Minkin earned her undergraduate degree from Brown University and her medical degree from Yale Medical School. She did both her internship in internal medicine and her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Personal

Dr. Minkin and her husband, a mathematician, have 2 children who are in their 30s. Dr. Minkin enjoys opera, historical fiction, and New York baseball.

Why Did You Join Versalie?

I’m delighted to join the Versalie team. The approach we’re taking is to encourage women to discuss and learn about the issues we’re facing. And importantly to seek information and advice from knowledgeable and friendly professionals who want you to get the best care possible. The team members include professionals from many specialties, and they can offer an array of interventions from lifestyle changes up through medical therapies.

I’m also delighted that Versalie is actually sponsoring scholarships for many medical professionals to become certified menopause practitioners — at a time where we certainly need more of them!

  • In 2009, she was honored by The Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame for her significant contributions to the care and well-being of Connecticut citizens
  • Named one of the Distinguished Faculty at the commemoration of 100 Years of Women at the Yale School of Medicine.

Media

Dr. Minkin is nationally known in the field of gynecology and is often interviewed and quoted in major print and broadcast media. She has also been a women’s health commentator for a popular radio show and health magazine. In addition, she has completed a cross-country lecture series on postmenopausal sex, and has spoken at the 92nd Street Y in New York City on hormone replacement therapy.
